Why choose paperless delivery?

Choosing the paperless option for your quarterly statements, tax forms and other documents offers many benefits beyond just saving paper.

Here's why you should consider switching:

  • Easy recordkeeping: Access your current and past documents conveniently in one centralized location. No more digging through stacks of paper or filing cabinets.
  • Increased security: Gain secure and fast access to your documents online. There's no need to worry about misplacing your documents.
  • Timely notifications: Receive email notifications as soon as your documents are available. Stay informed without delay.

Note: Certain Capital Group accounts (e.g., some 401(k) and 403(b) accounts) are not eligible for paperless delivery.

Paperless delivery FAQ

Log in to your account. On the Your Portfolio page, click Go Paperless.

If you've never accessed your account online, you'll need your account number from a recent statement to register and sign up for paperless delivery. You can manage your communication preferences at any time.

If you hold American Funds through your bank or your financial professional's firm, you’ll need to contact them for paperless delivery options or use an electronic delivery service.

You can select paperless delivery for all documents or select from:

  • Quarterly statements
  • Account confirmations
  • Prospectuses and reports
  • Tax forms

To help ensure you are notified of certain compliance and security events, like proxy voting letters and account change notifications, you will receive mailed paper copies regardless of your paperless selection.

Quarterly and year-end statements: You will receive an email 2 to 3 days after the end of the quarter notifying you that your latest statement is available online.

Account confirmations: When you process a transaction, you will receive an account confirmation via email in 1 to 2 business days.

Prospectuses and reports: You will receive an email notification when prospectuses and annual and semi-annual reports have been updated and are available.

Tax forms: You will receive an email notification as soon as your tax form is available to view and download. For more information on availability, see the tax form schedule in our Tax Center. Keep in mind that not all accounts will generate a form. For more information, refer to our Tax Center FAQ.

You will generally have access to statements for the current quarter and two years prior. Year-end account statements and tax forms are available for the last 10 years or from when you opened your account (whichever is later).
