90-year old active manager is recognized for Exemplary Stewardship in the U.S. and is also named Best Asset Manager by Morningstar in Hong Kong and Singapore
LOS ANGELES, MAY 23, 2023 — Capital Group, one of the world’s largest and most experienced active investment managers, has received the Exemplary Stewardship Award as part of the 2023 U.S. Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence.1
“Capital Group’s mission is to improve lives through successful long-term investing, it is core to what we’ve done during our 90-year history,” said Matt O’Connor, Chair & CEO of American Funds Distributors, Capital Group. “It is why we are privileged to be entrusted with the savings of millions of households around the world today.”
Morningstar presents the Exemplary Stewardship Award annually to an asset manager that has shown an unwavering focus on serving the best interests of investors. To qualify for the award, the firm must have received a Parent pillar rating of “High” according to its Morningstar Analyst RatingTM. The Parent pillar rating measures the quality of the firm’s care of investors’ capital. The firms must demonstrate an investor-focused corporate culture and an alignment of interests between investors and the people who control the destiny of the investment strategies.
This follows Morningstar’s announcement earlier this year recognizing Capital Group with the Best Asset Manager award in Singapore and Hong Kong.
"Our 2023 winners represent the best of the asset management industry, and their proven track records show their unwavering focus on serving the best interests of investors," said Tim Strauts, Morningstar's head of manager research, North America. "The manager and firm selected ground their strategies in deep fundamental research, which has produced strong results and rewarded investors in the long-term."
Capital Group has been an Exemplary Stewardship nominee in every year since the award’s inception in 2019.
Morningstar has granted annual awards to accomplished portfolio managers since 1988. The Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence winners are chosen based on research and in-depth qualitative evaluation by Morningstar's manager research group.
