SUPPORTING INSURANCE PARTNERS

What is the history of Capital Group's insurance business?

In 1984, Americans were just beginning to look to insurance companies for retirement security2.  Capital Group, home of the American Funds, was at the forefront of offering insurance companies support in the growth of the variable annuities market.

We partner with insurers to provide individualized guidance, analytics, in-person support, insights and tools for variable annuity sales discussions and fund decisions.

Variable annuities are long-term investment products designed for retirement purposes and are subject to market fluctuation, investment risk and possible loss of principal. Variable annuities contain both investment and insurance components and have fees and charges, including mortality and expense, administrative and advisory fees. Optional features are available for an additional charge. The annuity’s value fluctuates with the market value of the underlying investment options, and all assets accumulate tax deferred. Withdrawals of earnings are taxable as ordinary income and, if taken prior to age 59½, may be subject to an additional 10% federal tax. Withdrawals will reduce the death benefit and cash surrender value.

Figures shown are past results and are not predictive of results in future periods. Current and future results may be lower or higher than those shown. Investing for short periods makes losses more likely. The variable annuities and life insurance contracts that use the series' funds contain certain fees and expenses not reflected here. Prices and returns will vary, so investors may lose money. If such fees and expenses had been deducted, results would have been lower. For results reflecting contract-level fees and expenses, contact the insurance company that issues your contract or visit its website. View annuity expense ratios and returns.
Investments are not FDIC-insured, nor are they deposits of or guaranteed by a bank or any other entity, so they may lose value.
Investors should carefully consider investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses. This and other important information is contained in the fund prospectuses and summary prospectuses, which can be obtained from a financial professional and should be read carefully before investing.
Investing outside the United States involves risks, such as currency fluctuations, periods of illiquidity and price volatility. These risks may be heightened in connection with investments in developing countries.
There may have been periods when the results lagged the index(es) and/or average(s). The indexes are unmanaged and, therefore, have no expenses. Investors cannot invest directly in an index.
