Here are answers to some top questions on our ETFs
An ETF is a type of investment vehicle that’s similar to a mutual fund because it can provide diversification, but unlike a mutual fund it trades like a stock on an exchange. Capital Group’s Canadian ETFs are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
There are many kinds of ETFs. Some ETFs are “passive,” meaning they aim to simply track the risk/return profile of an index. Typically, they are restricted to holdings that follow the rules of the underlying index, so they may have little or no ability to protect against market volatility, and investors are “along for the ride” when markets ebb and flow.
Capital Group’s ETFs are actively managed, which means portfolio managers select holdings using an investment strategy to pursue the fund’s objectives, without being tied directly to an index.
A financial advisor can help determine if ETFs are right for you. Some potential ETF benefits include:
Active ETFs also may offer:
ETFs can be bought and sold during normal trading hours through registered brokers and dealers in the province or territory where you reside. Your broker or brokerage platform will charge their usual commissions or fees.
Commissions, trailing commissions, management fees and expenses all may be associated with investments in investment funds. Please read the prospectus before investing. Investment funds are not guaranteed or covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer. For investment funds other than money market funds, their values change frequently. For money market funds, there can be no assurances that the fund will be able to maintain its net asset value per security at a constant amount or that the full amount of your investment in the fund will be returned to you. Past performance may not be repeated.
Capital Group exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are actively managed and do not seek to replicate a specific index. ETF units are bought and sold through an exchange at the then current market price, not net asset value (NAV), and are not individually redeemed from the fund. Units may trade at a premium or discount to their NAV when traded on an exchange. Brokerage commissions will reduce returns. There can be no guarantee that an active market for ETFs will develop or be maintained, or that the ETF's listing will continue or remain unchanged.
The ETFs are prospectus qualified in Canada and are not registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and are not intended for distribution in the United States.
