Deccan Aviation operated one of India's leading low cost airlines, Air Deccan. The company launched its service in September 2003. Air Deccan was also a small but leading provider of air charter services in India. In June 2007, the UB Group (promoter of Kingfisher Airlines) acquired a stake in Air Deccan. The UB Group undertook a major re-branding exercise at Deccan and the 'Deccan' brand name was dropped and replaced by 'Kingfisher Red'.
